# JEV-powered News Insights

> Max opt-in for public news event context

> [!NOTE]
>
> **Available for Max subscribers.** Request `insights=true` to receive News Insights. Default requests and response fields remain unchanged.

## Availability and opt-in

News Insights is **Max-only** and never added implicitly. Request `insights=true` on one of these existing endpoints:

| Transport | Opt-in request |
| - | - |
| REST news | `GET /v1/news?insights=true` with `X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY` |
| REST search | `GET /v1/news/search?q=Fed%20rate%20decision&insights=true` with `X-API-Key: YOUR_KEY` |
| WebSocket | `wss://api.tradingnews.press/v1/stream?api_key=YOUR_KEY&insights=true` |

No WebSocket subscription message or ticker filter is needed. Starter and Pro cannot opt in: REST opt-in returns `403`, and WebSocket opt-in closes before acceptance with code `1008`. Omit the parameter or use `insights=false` to keep the existing Base/Pro six-field article or Max article with `tickers`.

## Public response fields

When requested by a Max client, each article adds an `insights` object. The base article fields (`id`, `content`, `urgency`, `sentiment`, `published_at`, `received_at`) and Max `tickers` remain unchanged.

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `version` | Public schema version, currently `1` |
| `status` | `ready`, `partial`, `timeout`, or `unavailable` |
| `analyzed_at` | Analysis time, when available |
| `priority` | `focus` for `breaking`, `watch` for `flash`, `background` for `regular`; may be `null` when analysis is unavailable |
| `event_type`, `report_type` | Event and report classifications, when available |
| `market_relevance` | Optional relevance values for `ES`, `NQ`, and `YM` |
| `related_tickers` | Optional items with `ticker`, `relation`, and `probability` |
| `ticker_coverage` | Optional `expected` and `assessed` counts |
| `universe` | Optional `as_of`, `kind`, and `status` metadata |

Fields beyond `version` and `status` may be omitted or `null` when no public result is available. A minimal unavailable result is `{"version":1,"status":"unavailable"}`.

```
`related_tickers[].probability` measures potential association between a news item and a ticker. It does **not** predict price direction, returns, or a trading outcome. News Insights is informational, not investment advice.
